Can somebody explain me why this disco guy and this Villamonte guy are even on this forum ??? We are sitting here for 9-10 years telling our folks in our home countries, I'll come in may, no probably july, no in july my papers goes for renewals,, may be Dec. no in Dec. tickets are too expensive and in March I have my project live date, may be next may oh no by then I'll have to send my papers for renewal.... well you know what, forget about me, you stay happy where you are and I live happily here....

Do not generalise all consulting companies...At least people working in these consulting companies sponsored GC and buying house and spending their money here. Most of the fradulent GC process was done by these croocked indian companies. They exploited the EB1C system to the maximum extend. Most of the times, they are not filing the GC and keep the employees as slaves or they exploit the EB1c fo their boot lickers.
Does anyone know such a bootlicker getting EB1c based GC? I wonder what a smart aleck that guy must been. There was a piece on NYT about India's penchant with lines and cutting lines by the uppity mongers..:D

Did you ever hear the proverb "quitters never win" and winners never quit.
Quit here go to Canada and then face some problems there and then quit canada. And then you will become the rolling stone which gathers no mass. Your family will be sick of your shifting then and no stabilization will cause more issues.
A friend of mine told me this one evening when I was really frustrated and was planning to quit my dream on being an entrepreneur and here I am now, and I think where I am right now is for the reason that I didn't quit that day and finally my product was liked by a company and they bought the product and offered me a job as well and then one thing lead to another and now I am settled with what I always wanted to do ( kinda not 100%) but its ok.
Instead of ruining our life running after GC, here are few options
1) if you really want to live in a developed country, move to Canada or Australia. their process is much simpler and faster
2) cash out your investments and move to India. you might end up back in US on L1 :)
3) since some of us have had babies here, wait till they can sponsor you.
i have personally done 2 of the above. I have a Canadian PR and i have established contacts in India in case i need a job there. What am i doing here? saving as much money as i can, and waiting for the right opportunity in Canada or India. GC can kiss my ......., i got better things to do in life.

update on case
As you know they should have answered law suit at end of May 07, then requested a further 30 days till end of Jun
Just before end of june their attorney called my attorney and said they want a resolution to case, they had little to no paperwork so requested our file which I hand delivered to Tampa on 6th July 07, so asked for another 30 days to end July
Well they have replied and agreed with 90% of our case. they say case is moot because my husband died, but my attorney says no, because they errored whilst husband was alive so irrelevant. They are also saying we cannot sue them, my attorney says there wrong
Anyway I will not bore you with all the details as I now have to do a lot of work, indexing, getting proof my son was issued an L2 visa (they are denying this), getting proof my son took steps to immigrate, which we have as he had INS medical well before his 21st
My attorney says if we win this will help so many others cases from aging out and to be strong, very hard to do at the moment.
Oh and they do not believe I am depressed, but I have the tablets and pescription to prove

Life is about compromise and you are right it is hurtful to the future of baby who don't realize what is going on. Baby really need both Mom and Dad, pls try to explain this to your wife.
About cutting off with parents, she can chose not to talk to your parents and/or you can chose not to talk to her parents if things are not right. But forcing to breakup with own parents is utterly wrong and unacceptable. You can try to explain this to your wife.

" and you must remember there is something called postpartum depression which Indian parents in-laws don't understand when they come for their daughter-in-laws delivery. I have heard few other cases when things went really bad after delivery.
Try to explain her that she and child are your first priority. I am sure you have tried to do this many times, try few times more. If talking results in a fight, try sending a long thoughtful email (make sure any of it can't be used against you if things still don't get better, probably you can use it in your favor if needed about the efforts you put in to improve). Before even thinking about divorce try to give life a 2nd chance and may be 3rd chance.
I must say that it is hard to believe that in this whole thing you/your parents didn't do anything wrong and one fine day your wife went nuts. Try to analyze yourself too.

I came to US in 2002 and completed masters and been working since then. I got married couple of years ago. Whatever the monetary gifts the girls parents gave as part of the marriage, I put all that in an account on the girls name within 2 days of the marriage. We came to India and from then on the problems started. She and her parents want me to separate from my parents and support their family by sending money to their parents which I couldn't do. How can I leave my parents in their old age when they worked very hard to give a decent life. She has been harassing me mentally for this all the time. Recently her parents have been threatening me saying they will file dowry case in India if I don't send money or cut myself off from my parents. I provided for the girl in all possible ways, even encouraged her to join school to get a masters degree which she stopped soon. We had a baby recently and my parents visited us to help us with the baby. She started harassing them too by saying something or other.
I am very frustrated at this situation and I don't know what to do. I am on H1B and applied for 485 too. At times I feel like applying for divorce but when I think about my little baby I am not able to take that step. The house we currently live in, I bought long before the marriage. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support.
I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

There are many people who have contributed and will be contributing again. But can I know how would more money would have helped convincing Senator Sessions to say "Yes" for the bill??
I am not sure if more money would have passed the bill in Lame Duck session without Senator Session approving it. Also, the lawyers ask only for the service they render to you. They dont ask money for keeping your application with them and unable to process because of retrogression.

They are very prompt in answering questions.Such posts will only create roadblocks to the momentum created on the forum by some of our members. It is time to help rather than ask. We have seen in the lameduck session how close we came to getting the bill passed. If IV was not there, even this much was not possible. We give thousands of dollars to our lawyers, can't we simply give 20 dollars to IV without asking questions and believing in this cause?

I think this is a really complex issue. We go thru a lot of thoughts now and then.
When I think rationally this is what I am concerned about:
1. Social isolation from family (brother/sisters/extended family) in the long run.
2. Inability to support aging parents.
The second issue weighs down on my soul more because supporting aging parents is a debt we are all supposed to pay back (regardless of ethnicity/class/caste/nationality/...). We are not supposed to run away from it. Some of us are lucky to have sibilings who are supporting the parents back home and that makes it a little easier. I know some of us even have single parents living by themselves.
The long wait makes it hard for you and wife. So you really feel frustrated and want to leave. At the same time waiting for GC your career has been stagnating for years, your wife hasn't had a job in years and that makes going back harder. Its like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Things seem good with a GC in US and they look good back home but we seem to be getting neither ... *sigh*

We cannot expect core members to be online all the time, and we cannot expect to see lobbying related information unless a bill actually comes out. I think what we CAN do is keep the average members like me who want to do something, engaged with things that are within reach.
FOIA campaign was a great example of this.
However, I am very sad to report that only 3 other members from Texas Chapter participated.
I consider FOIA is a multifold success. Not only we achieved milestone 1 of $5K, we were successful enough to wake up members to do something after long time. Why do you think the very same members were sleeping? I don't believe IV Core was not doing anything in last few months but members always felt that there is no plan of action from IV. There is nothing worst could happen to us just by disclosing our plan of actions in controlled way like:
1. <<ABC>> is preparing document for final data information.
2. <<XYZ>> is evaluating other options how we could retrieve this information.
3. <<DEF>> is understanding how FOIA works and how long it will take us to get data and what will be the best option to get it earlier.
4. <<MMM>> is working on funding drive for this.
There is no reason to hide even this kind of information. But if we do this, members understand what we are doing at high level.
