Last week I went to Trenton with H1 extension receipt (original), letter from employer, but in vain. They need approved docs. Luckily this week I got the H1 extended and today I carried the original approved H1 I-797A and got the DL extended. I got only 2 years H1/DL extension after 6 year completion with I-140 approved and 485 in progress. Fyi

You should discuss the risks involved in concurrent filing with your lawyer too. In some circumstances if I140 is likely to face hurdles, you should wait for your I140 approval. This is just a caution. Each case is different.

Can Patton Boggs do better? Haven't we had more legislative success, I mean traction, when we partnered with Quinn Gillespie? Are we receiving sound advice on which of our grievances require legislative action and which ones can be redressed by a mere change in policy on the part of the executive? It looks like most of our current problems were not ushered in by any new law, but rather by a stroke of a pen in a memo by the incompetent and indifferent INS, USCIS, DOL and the State Department. No change in law was needed to make then deny us concurrent filing in Oct 2005 and allow it in July 2007. No change in law was required to deny us visa revalidation. One could argue that no change in law is required to belatedly use unused visas from the previous years. The list goes on. It should be easier to lobby a handful of buffoons in the executive branch with real power than 500+ buffoons on Capitol Hill. Has Patton Boggs served us well?

15 years and 2 months. Arrived in US in June 1995. Includes 6 years on J1 and 9 years on H1. Been thru all possible problems-employer closing shop in the middle of waiver, scrambling to find another waiver position, labor stuck in back log , lost priority date, new PERM and labor from 2006 and then applied 485 in july 2007 .
I made a lot of mistakes, lost opportunities but there there were a lot of things beyond my control...

I filed my labor on Feb 5th and still in processing. My lawyer has opened an enquiry but so far no response. I read this in the Immigration -law site:
As to the problem of Atlanta National Service Center delays, there were rush of H-2B case filings and that Center had to switch around the resources from PERM to H-2B cases. However, the situation is under control and the Atlanta Center will see positive changes from here on in terms of the processing times. There are aware that in light of the immigrant visa number changes in July 2007, such changes should help in achieving some level of fairness.
Hope something works out quickly before we miss the bus. I am planning to send an email or request to my Senator. Any ideas on this?

You can get NJ DL on reciept and employers letter. Only thing is you need to go to Trenton or other service centers and not in local office. I got it few months back when I was in you situation.

I just sent a check of $100 via online bill payment to IV. I've also set up recurring contribution checks of $25 every month beginning June. Lot of weird things. Still waiting for 485 approval even after sending interfiling request in mid-November. My attorney has sent an email reminder again 2 weeks back. Even for the I-140 which was approved in November 1st week, online status still says "Initial Review".
Opened a Service Request early this week and received a reply with the status as follows.
Thank you for contacting us about this case. According to our systems this petition was approved and it has been sent to production. Your case will be processed in order based on the approval date. If you do not receive the document within 30 days feel free to contact us again.
Online/Phone status is still processing .... I have to just wait and see I guess.

Is this employment authorization re: the EADs we get, or employment authorization in general for immigrants?
No. it was talk about validating employment for legal immigrants at the workplace. I-9 etc... They just worded it as "Employment authorization"

If they start processing/approve I-140, they will immi get bombarded with I485/EAD/AP applications. So they are trying to artifically stem down the workload they might get. Also this gives them a chance to clearup the 485 queue ... :-)

If that is the case, why is there a big movement? I am assuming that the Jul 07 backlog has been significantly reduced and hence this big movement. Correct me if my assumption is wrong.
Yes, your assumption is wrong. The dates move when USCIS doesn't approve many cases ina month. That leaves DOS to believe that there are no enough demand and hence they move dates forward. but as I said, I am very positive that the movement is to facilitate CP to approve cases. I wont be surprised if they move EB2 further next month.
