Immigration Lawyers Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
The California Service Center (CSC) will hold a tour of its facility in Laguna Niguel, California, for HR personnel involved with filing immigration cases for their workers. The tour is on March 11, 2010. It will begin at 12:15PM and end at 1:00PM. From 1:00PM to 2:30PM, CSC officers will meet with the visitors and answer questions. The topics will include best practices for filing and advice HR professionals should give their foreign workers. Please let us know by March 5, 2010 if you'd like to attend and we can arrange your visit.

Folks,
I am trying to put together documents for my wife's 485 application. The birth certificate was re-issued a couple of years back (with corrections to her mother's name and including her last name which was missing earlier).
The lawyer says we need to put a good reason down for 'why a corrected birth certificate was not obtained until now'.
Do you guys know of a good reason to provide USCIS? Know of any reason which was accepted in case of your friends?
Please do advise. Thanks!

I received RFE letter from USCIS for missing TB skin test result in the medical reports.I took TB skin test in 2007 and came out negative.Here is the test of RFE
"your application contained form I-693 in which the required TB skin test was not conducted. Please note there may be conflicting information on some published form I-693 instructions regarding when the chest X ray Report should be performed. It is required only when the TB skin test indicates a reaction equal to greater than 5 mm, or when the reason for why the TB skin test is medically inappropriate to perform has been annotated on theform I-693. Please submit a newly completed form I-693 indicating the results of the required skin test."
After consulting the doctor concerned, she filled up new I-693 form with 2007 test results and provide me I-69e form in a sealed envelop. Can you please let me know whether 2007 TB skin test results will be acceptible to USCIS or do I need to do another TB skin test? Please Help.

Only spouse and unmarried children under 21 can be added as dependents on your I485 application.

How much time does it take for 485 to get approved with a visa number available. I applied for 485 after my i-140 was approved. Does the priority date have anything to do with processing for 485?
Nobody know how long it takes to adjudicate I485 once your PD becomes current. A conservative guesstimate would be 6-8 months. The whole processing of I485 is driven by the PD.

Forgot to mention that my I-140 was also approved in Jan 2007. This was not a concurrent filing. I filed I-485 after getting I-140 approved.

Hi all,
This is urgent, your response is appreciated. I am switching jobs and my new employer wants me to go to the UK for some training in a week for about 5 days. They are sending the H1-B transfer application in couple of days, so the transfer has not been done. The img. lawer said they will send the receipt notice to me in the UK and I could travel back with my previous H1-B visa from my previous employer. I am a citizen of India woking in the STEM field for the last 2 years. I am still working and my employment will last for about 1 more week.
QUESTIONS:
1. Please let me know you see any problems at immigration when coming back to the US?
2. Can the employer wait couple of more weeks before sending cancellation of my H1-B visa without paying me during that time?
3. If I take an unpaid leave durimg this time, will that help?

I am in US in L1 Blanket visa and is expiring on November 26th 2009.

My company filed for H1B Extension as it is expiring in november 2009. How much time will it take to get the H1B extension approved ? Once i get H1B extension(probably for 1 year or 3 years), then should i go for H1B stamping, if so, i have to go to India for H1B Stamping. Let me know...

I am also in the same boat and lots of people suggesting I take an infopass appointment including a very popular Attorney.
It is wierd thing that so many of us have missed the FP appointments.

The law requires that you report any and all change of address change within 10 days of the change.
You can choose to use the online tool and complete an electronic Form AR-11 and notify USCIS to update your address on most pending cases. However, if you choose to do it by paper, then AR-11 will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS.
